Biography:

Casey Richards is a writer, artist, and filmmaker. She was born on January 10, 1994 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She graduated as the Valedictorian from River Glen High School in June of 2011, and was awarded the Mel Stevenson Memorial Art Scholarship. In the fall, 2012, she was accepted into the 2 year Theatre and Entertainment Production Program at Red Deer College, and graduated 2014 on the honour roll. After, she enrolled in the Motion Picture Arts Program at Red Deer College, and was awarded the Motion Picture Arts Entrance Scholarship. She wrote, produced, directed, art directed, and edited a student feature called Exu; a dramatic thriller about a detective, a troubled young woman whose the main suspect in a multiple homicide case, and mysterious supernatural deity. In 2016, Casey graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Casey’s artistic career took off in 2013 with her securing a job position with the Jubilations/Celebrations Dinner Theatre. For seven years, Casey worked on 34 different theatre productions with this company as a scenic carpenter and painter building theatre sets and painting murals. Eventually, she landed her first professional film job as the production designer for Cor Values (2018), a dramatic, independent feature about a journalist who investigates a series of murders that may be linked to a satanic cult. It was this film set that Casey met the love of her life, Remi LeBlanc, an experienced business owner, tradesman, and equipment operator, who was working as a film crew assistant to the camera, location, and art departments at the time. Immediately after, Casey wrote the screenplay and worked as an associate producer and production designer/art director for No Apology (2019), an award winning, dramatic, independent feature about a group of women struggling to deal with the death of a friend, causing their dark secrets to unravel. Casey’s also worked as a location assistant on the family feature Dino Dana: The Movie (2020), and as the production designer/art director on another dramatic, independent feature called Connecting Flights (2021).

In the fall of 2020, Casey left her job position with the Jubilations/Celebrations Dinner Theatre and moved to Queensland Australia after her partner, Remi, was offered a job position overseas. Casey continues to enjoy her work as a writer, filmmaker, and freelance contractor/artist in both the film and theatre industry.

"I believe the main purpose of films is to make the impossible possible, the imagination a reality, and stories into inspirations.”
